History of Ingonish, Nova Scotia

Our Cape Breton resort has a long wonderful history. Did you know it was during the 1800’s that tourists came by sea, horseback and even on foot to enjoy the peacefulness and the beauty of the village of Ingonish, Nova Scotia.

Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Graham Bell were frequent and significant visitors to the community. In 1892 the Bells built a home in nearby Baddeck and enjoyed camping and swimming at Ingonish Beach in the summer. The couple shared their Cape Breton vacation with many of their friends including Henry and Julia Corson.

There is much more to our Cape Breton Resort Story. Please stay tuned for more chapters in the life of the Keltic Lodge.
